Inside this course, Theresa guides you through the process of working with wax and heat, teaching you all the fundamental techniques of encaustic painting. With our Beginning Encaustic Painting Workshop, you'll learn everything you need to get started with this rich and rewarding art form.

First, Theresa teaches the basics of encaustic painting. You'll learn about proper ventilation and the materials and tools you'll need, as well as where to purchase them. She talks about substrates - the boards that you'll be painting on - and how to prepare them for your encaustic masterpiece.

Once you have your studio set up and your materials ready, Theresa dives into the art of melting and fusing beeswax. You'll explore early wax layers and she'll show you how to take a piece from start to finish.

You'll also learn how to make encaustic medium in your own studio and deepen your studio practice. You'll explore different types of blowtorches and how to use them safely, as well as the ins and outs of heat gun know-how.

Theresa will then cover some essential techniques like scraping and working with gold leaf. You'll get tips and tricks for creating surface effects, and she'll show you how to finish the edges of your piece for a polished look.
